Policy Statement and Reason

For the purpose of this policy, employees include Massachusetts and California faculty and staff. All provisions of this policy apply, except that for employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement, this policy does not create any benefits not expressly provided by that collective bargaining agreement and if there are inconsistencies between this policy and the collective bargaining agreement, the terms of the collective bargaining agreement will govern.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and as part of our continued efforts to maintain a safe campus for students, faculty and staff, Emerson is requiring all employees and applicants to receive an FDA authorized and/or approved COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of continued employment.  Below you will find additional information regarding this policy.  This is an evolving public health emergency.  Emerson fully intends this policy to comply with all applicable federal, state and local law or guidance. Emerson is monitoring guidance from all applicable public health authorities and we reserve the right to modify this policy as we determine may be necessary or appropriate.  It is recommended that employees consult with their healthcare provider regarding whether to obtain a COVID-19 vaccination.  Although whether or not someone receives a vaccination may have work implications, the decision whether to be vaccinated, and which vaccine to receive, is still a choice that employees should make in consultation with their medical provider after reviewing all of the available information.

Employees Required to be Vaccinated

Emerson requires all faculty, staff and all applicants to be vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to them working on campus.

Exemption Process

Emerson will consider requests for exemptions for religious or medical reasons on an individual basis in accordance with applicable legal requirements

Employees requesting an exemption should complete the applicable forms on the Emerson website or contact Human Resources for more information.  Emerson will request additional information or documentation it deems necessary or appropriate to inform its decision in response to a request and work with the employee on any necessary accommodations.

Failure to Comply or Cooperate with Vaccination Policy

Failure to comply or cooperate with this vaccination policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment
