When is New Student Orientation (NSO)?

All new residential students will move in on August 26, and New Student Orientation (NSO) will kick off on August 27 and go through to August 31, 2026.

When do I move in?

Most new students will move in on August 26, 2026. If you are a Fall 2026 Athlete, Athletics will be in touch regarding your specific move-in information.

For all new residential students, Housing and Residential Education will be in touch regarding your assigned move-in time slots over the summer.

What should I do if I have a conflict with move-in and/or New Student Orientation?

Please email orientation [at] emerson.edu (orientation[at]emerson[dot]edu) to let us know. Please note that orientation is mandatory, and you may receive follow-up from an orientation staff member to provide additional information.

Move-in times are assigned by Housing and Residential Education (HRE). Please email hre [at] emerson.edu (hre[at]emerson[dot]edu) with additional questions.

Do I have to go to New Student Orientation? Is there a Transfer Student Orientation?

Attending New Student Orientation is mandatory for all new students, including transfer students. We have designed programs for all incoming students to attend, whether you are a new first-year student or a transfer student.

When will the NSO schedule be released?

The schedule will be released a week before your arrival!

How can I view the NSO schedule?

You will receive an email with the orientation schedule information once it is live in August.

How do I register for NSO?

You can register on your admitted students portal via the incoming student checklist.

You will receive an email from New Student Orientation in mid-June letting you know registration is open.

How do I register my parent for parent or family orientation?

You can register your family member for Supporting Your Lion Through the College Years on Thursday, August 27, when they confirm their attendance for orientation. This is located on your admitted students portal via the incoming student checklist.

I have access needs. How can I receive support during NSO?

Your orientation registration form will include the opportunity to notify us of any access needs. You can also contact Student Accessibility Services at sas [at] emerson.edu (sas[at]emerson[dot]edu) for accessibility concerns/questions.
