Yu-jin Chang teaches European literature and philosophy and has completed a study of Walter Benjamin and Maurice Blanchot titled Disaster and Hope. The study examines the closely related aesthetic conceptions of time and history by Benjamin and Blanchot, arguably the two most influential literary theorists of the last century. He is currently completing a book on Benjamin's cryptic "political theology."
