John RookePart Time Faculty (2006) B.J., University of Texas, Austin http://www.johnrooke.com John Rooke is an award-winning broadcaster, currently serving in several broadcast capacities, including 20 years as radio play-by-play voice for Providence College basketball. He also calls Big East football and basketball for the ISP Sports Network, XM Satellite Radio, and TV play-by-play for ESPN Regional Television and ESPNU. Additionally, Rooke has been a sports anchor for WLVI-TV in Boston and three stations in Providence, as well as a fill-in anchor for WVIT-TV in Hartford and WCBS-TV in New York. Rooke has also been the stadium voice for the New England Patriots and New England Revolution since 1993, served as host for PAX-TV's Coastal News, "Golfing The World" on Fox Sports Net, and numerous programs and game broadcasts for many radio stations, including WEEI/WRKO Boston and WPRO/WSKO Providence. He continues to host programs for the ESPN Radio network as well as serving as a commercial voice artist. Rooke has also served as a gubernatorial communications director, and as a program director/manager for a major communications company. |
