

Awards
The recipients of the following awards are all chosen by an award committee in the Journalism department. The awards are given out prior to graduation day in May.
Bob Hoyt Excellence in Journalism Award: Established in his memory by family and friends in 1998. The award is presented to an outstanding Broadcast Journalism student who best exemplifies Bob Hoyt’s level of journalistic excellence and commitment.
Mike Morgan Award: Established in 1989 by friends and family in memory of Mike Morgan ’72. Award given to a graduating senior who has served on the staff of WERS and has career goals in broadcast journalism.
Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Award: Presented to a graduating senior with proven leadership abilities and dedication to the profession
Radio-Television News Directors Association & Foundation (RTNDA) Award: Presented to the graduating senior in broadcast journalism who believes in the ethics and goals of the association and has strongly support chapter activities and who demonstrates dedication to the chapter.
Print Journalism Excellence Award: Presented to a graduating senior whose journalism work and contributions in the classroom exemplify the highest standards and qualities of print journalism.
Graduate Student Award of Excellence in Journalism: Given to a graduate student or students for significant scholarly or artistic achievement in his or her graduate program.
