Through partnerships with faculty and professional staff, the Advising Center provides access to resources, coordinates all aspects of academic advising, and supports faculty advisors. Programs designed to meet individual needs integrate students into the larger college community, facilitate completion of academic programs, and, in collaboration with Career Services, help define and achieve career and personal goals.
As soon as you arrive at Emerson, Career Services is ready for you. There is a variety of programs to help you zero in on your skills and interests, research job prospects, and effectively market yourself to potential employers. Arrange for individual advising, attend various job-hunting workshops, or browse the Career Resources Library, where you will find volumes teeming with career and graduate school information. There are more than 900 internships on file with the office. Jobs are posted online, and you can create a personal profile on a website that potential employers can access. Other services available to you include the Internship and Networking Fair, alumni network (Emerson College Connection), career panels with professionals in various fields, company site visits, and classroom presentations.
Staffed by nurse practitioners, registered nurses, a wellness educator, and a consulting physician, the Health Center offers treatment for acute and minor illnesses, follow-up treatment, gynecological exams, referrals, counseling, routine lab work, health education on a variety of topics, and referrals to other health professionals.
Staffed by psychologists, a social worker, interns, and a consulting psychiatrist, the Counseling Center is available to help you with personal concerns, family problems, or other psychological issues. Services include short-term counseling, support groups, crisis intervention, and referral to outside mental health agencies and professionals.
Established in 1970, this gathering place is for exploring and appreciating cultural and multicultural perspectives at Emerson. The Director of Multicultural Affairs, the Cultural Center and the campus are dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of diverse cultures. At the Center, you can enjoy a variety of educational, cultural, and social events for students, faculty, and staff. You can find a quiet personal space in the lounge, or socialize with other students utilizing the TV/VCR, kitchenette, computers, or resource library.

The Center offers reading and writing support programs as well as study skills workshops on note taking, organization, test taking, library research, critical reading approaches, and effective time management. You might also find helpful our wide range of targeted services, including course-specific individual and group tutorials, and special academic support programs for international students, students with mild learning disabilities, those on academic probation, and those admitted provisionally to the College.
The Office of Service Learning and Community Action coordinates academic and cocurricular programs in service learning as well as sponsoring cocurricular service projects, service work-study, social activism, and other opportunities for meaningful, reflective, and engaged community involvement.
The Center for Spiritual Life serves students of all religious denominations through prayer services, cultural celebrations, and campus-wide inter-religious activities. Part-time chaplains are on staff to counsel and guide you. Your spiritual and social needs might also be satisfied by the many events that are sponsored by groups such as Hillel, Emerson Goodnews Fellowship, Islamic Community of Emerson, and the Newman Club.
