Life After Emerson

Everything you do today isn't only for today. These four years or so of undergraduate study are really about the next forty years of your life. The time you spend with us as an undergraduate amounts to about one-tenth of the years you will work as a professional. With a degree from Emerson in hand, what will you do with that other nine-tenths?

Discover how some of our alums are using their Emerson educations in the real world by reading featured alumni profiles using the drop-down box on this page.

Career Preparation

Planning for a successful career is more than just typing up a resume.  In order to fully prepare you for what lies ahead, Emerson provides you with a combination of knowledge, experience, and resources.

Clearly, the skills you learn in the classroom are a critical component of your career preparation.  Faculty who understand the industry for which you are preparing teach your major-related courses, as your liberal arts professors provide depth and context for your new skills.  Required courses in Fundamentals of Speech Communication and Expository Writing also give you confidence and skills that set you apart as an excellent communicator.

In addition to the projects you do in classes, cocurricular activities help you build your portfolio and develop experience.  For example, you may work your way up to the program director position at WERS, or design a new ad campaign for a client through EmComm, Emerson’s student-run advertising and PR agency.

In addition to the outstanding preparation you receive in the classroom and through participation in co-curricular activities, Emerson College Career Services provides the programs, services, resources, and advisors you need to help you reach your professional goals.

We can help guide you along your career path, no matter what stage you are at. Whether you are a first-year student unsure about your career plans, a junior seeking an internship in your chosen field, or a graduating senior starting your job search, Career Services is here to help.

From your first day at Emerson until long after you graduate, we encourage you to take advantage of all that Career Services has to offer students in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Among our many offerings:
