Studios & Equipment

The visual and media arts industries are some of the most rapidly changing industries in the world today. At Emerson, we have made a commitment to keep abreast of the advances in theory and technology that are accompanying those changes. Our students have access to production equipment used in most arms of the television, radio, film, and sound recording industries. Emerson offers students two radio stations (including the highly acclaimed FM station, WERS), new television production studios, an extensive array of 16mm film equipment, and state-of-the-art digital editing stations and audio post-production suites

Our outstanding media equipment includes:

  • Avid Film Composer editing suite
  • Avid X-press editing suites
  • Avid DV editing suites
  • Final Cut Pro editing lab
  • Bolex, CP16, Arri BL, Arri SR I, and SR II 16mm cameras
  • Oxberry animation stand and JK optical printer
  • Steenbeck 16mm flatbed suites
  • Digital sound mix studios and DVD authoring studios
  • Pro-Tools/Tascam DA-88 recording studios and editing suites (Kurzweill K2600 synth/sampler modules, MIDI production, Dolby® 5:1 surround, and Yamaha 02R digital mixers)
  • Pro-Tools HD/TDM surround sound design suites
