Performing Arts

Your Passion. You believe in the power of theatre. The power to teach, heal, entertain, inspire, persuade, and transform. Theatre has shaped who you are today – and will always be an important part of your life.

Why Emerson. Unlike most other schools with performance-based programs, Emerson allows you to practice your craft from day one. Check out the New Student Review, the many student-run productions, and the eight to twelve school-sponsored stage productions held yearly. Take advantage of the professional-level performance and production facilities at the landmark Cutler Majestic Theatre and the adjacent Tufte Performance and Production Center. Or explore the many internship and work opportunities in the nearby Theatre District, home to nearly a dozen theaters.

Your Emerson Experience. Our Performing Arts programs combine intensive studio and production work with a strong liberal arts foundation. Choose from a Bachelor of Fine Arts for a studio-intensive approach or a Bachelor of Arts for a broader experience. Either way, your education will support your study while expanding your mind about aesthetics, world cultures, literature, and more. Meanwhile, our more than 50 distinguished department faculty and artists-in-residence will challenge you in exciting ways – and open doors to the professional world of performing arts.

Your Future. Actor. Designer. Stage Manager. Teacher. Director. Playwright. Technician. Whatever you want to do – or even if you're not quite sure yet – Emerson's Performing Arts programs will help you determine your future.
