Interview

Your interview plays a primary role in your admission decision. It gives us the opportunity to discuss your portfolio with you, evaluate your talent and potential, and determine if you would be compatible with our program.

Applicants who are required to complete an interview (BFA Design/Technology, BFA Stage and Production Management) will book themselves into a 30–minute interview period. Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes prior to the interview start time so that the interview staff can confirm your arrival and take a photo of you. This photo will be associated with your record and interview and it will only be used internally at Emerson College for the interview process. After you have been checked in, you will be directed to the room where your interview will take place. Anyone accompanying you will be directed to wait in the Visitor Center.

Applicants to the BFA in Theatre Design/Technology may complete their interview on-campus in Boston or in New York or Chicago in accordance with the Artistic Review schedule. All in-person interviews are scheduled through the Artistic Review section of the Application Portal.

Telephone interviews are available for applicants who live outside of the Northeast United States and for whom the cost of traveling is prohibitive. They are offered according to the Artistic Review schedule on a space-available basis. Those applicants interested in scheduling a telephone interview should contact the Performing Arts Admission Coordinator at PA_ArtisticReview@emerson.edu and, using a mailing service that offers tracking, mail a copy of their portfolio to:
