Campus Visits

Fall 2008
(September 22 - December 17)

Friday Visits

Learn about Emerson by visiting on a Friday for a campus tour and an admission and financial aid information session. Friday visits begin at noon. What to expect:

An hour-long walking tour of the campus (12p.m.)

Experience first-hand our impressive facilities and get insight into graduate student life here at Emerson. Tours are led by a current graduate student. Please note: The tour may be led by a student in a different program than your program of interest.

A 30-minute information session (1p.m.)

Led by a graduate admission staff member, the group information session presents the admission and financial aid process to prospective graduate students. In addition, you will have the opportunity to ask questions about Emerson, graduate student life, and your program of interest. The graduate admission staff is prepared to answer most, if not all, of your questions about the admission process, financial aid, and your program of interest. However, detailed questions regarding your program of interest are best answered by the Graduate Program Director of that department and we recommend you contact him/her well in advance of your visit.

If you would like to meet with your Graduate Program Director or other faculty member, please contact the department well in advance of your Friday visit to arrange a discussion. Drop-in faculty visits are not available.

Personalized Tours

We also offer personalized tours of our campus with a current student in your graduate program of interest. These tours last approximately one hour and are a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the campus and ask questions. You can learn why the current student chose Emerson, hear about his or her experience in the program, and get tuned into life in Boston. The student will show you the campus, focusing on facilities related to your program, then sit down to talk with you about program specifics. The timing of these tours varies.

The current graduate students that offer tours all have specific work schedules, as detailed below. We will do our best to accommodate your needs, but we might not be able to satisfy all requests for personalized tours.

Graduate Program Director and Class Visits

A number of the Graduate Program Directors hold 'office hours' specifically for meetings with prospective students one-on-one, to answer in-depth questions about the program. Currently, Graduate Program Directors in Communication Management, GMCA, Media Art, and Theatre Ed have these office hours. Appointments must be set up through Victoria Colabufo.

Also, prospective students may sit in on specific classes for IMC and Journalism. Appointments must be set up through Victoria Colabufo. Also, there are certain expectations for class visitors that Victoria will share with you (such as being 'quiet observers' during class).

Sign up for a campus visit or ask questions about visiting by contacting Victoria Colabufo, Visitor Center Coordinator, at Victoria_Colabufo@emerson.edu or 617.824.8442.
