Unique in its ability to transcend language, theatre can unify people of disparate experiences like no other art form. Children, young adults, survivors of illness, the elderly, and entire communities benefit from the modes of expression that theatre explores.

You are eager to examine the interactive aspects of theatre. Perhaps you hope to cultivate children's capacity for empathy and self-expression as a dramatic arts teacher. Maybe you aspire to use theatre to cast light on social issues or to build community. If you choose a life in theatre education, you will find you have the best of both worlds both on the stage and in the classroom.

Whatever path you choose, our curriculum considers the art of teaching and the teaching of art.

Offering three streams of study, the Theatre Education program allows you to explore yourself as both an artist and an educator. We help you prepare for a successful career by offering areas of emphasis in Theatre Teacher Education, Theatre and Community, and Theatre Education in preparation for a PhD.
