1. View Application Deadlines by Graduate Program

We are now accepting applications for Spring 2015 and Fall 2015. View our deadlines to find out when to complete your application.


2. Gather the Required Credentials

All applicants are also required to submit the following supporting credentials.

  • Transcripts: Official, signed transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended. Please note; International students do not need to send official international transcripts or certificates, but are required to provide Emerson with an International Transcript Evaluation.   • Test scores: GRE or GMAT test score requirements are specific to each program. View test score requirements »
  • Letters of recommendation: Three letters of recommendation from persons best able to assess academic and professional qualifications, including motivations, goals, and clinical potential (for Communication Disorders applicants). The preferred method of submission is directly through the application site. Electronic submissions coming directly from the applicant will not be accepted.

    As Emerson College is striving for a greener planet, we strongly suggest using the application site for recommendation submission. This is also the method that ensures the most efficient processing of your application.

    The Office of Graduate Admission no longer accepts letters of recommendation submitted on paper.
  • Essay(s): See the essay requirements of your intended program of study. Essays can be submitted online with your application.
  • Professional résumé: Include your professional and educational history.

3. Note Program Specific Requirements

The following programs have additional requirements that you should prepare for:

  • Communication Disorders: Highly qualified candidates will be invited to the campus for an interview during the last two weeks of February. Candidates will meet individually with two members of the faculty. On campus interviews are highly encouraged, but Skype interviews are available for those applicants who are unable to travel to campus. Candidates will receive invitations to interview in the first week of February 2015. Interviews will be held at the end of February, 2015.
  • Creative Writing: Submit a maximum of 15 pages (double-spaced) of fiction or nonfiction or a maximum of 15 pages of poetry. Label the writing sample with your preferred genre as indicated on the application form. You should supply writing samples that reflect your preferred genre.
  • Media Art: A creative portfolio is required. Learn more »
  • Publishing and Writing: Submit a maximum of 5 pages (double-spaced) of nonfiction prose. This may be a combination of work you have published elsewhere or an unpublished nonfiction piece.
  • Theatre Education: Submit an artistic résumé in addition to your professional résumé.

5. Check the Status of Your Application Credentials

After submitting your application, you will receive an email from Emerson College with an Emerson ID. You will use your Emerson ID and date of birth to log into the Application Portal. Admission decisions will also be made available through the Portal on a rolling basis. Please keep in mind that processing your supporting credentials may take up to 7 to 10 business days. Log in »
