If you’re a high school student curious about the news, storytelling, politics, or social issues, and communication and the latest technology, either the Summer Journalism Institute or the Political Communication, Advocacy and Leadership Institute is the perfect three-week summer academic choice for you. The five-day Communication Disorders Institute offers an excellent learning opportunity to students who are interested in careers in audiology, speech-language pathology, or speech-language therapy.
Whether your goal is a career in health care, social work or education, during the Communication Disorders Institute, you will explore the field of speech-language pathology and learn basic principles through faculty presentations, lectures, hands-on exploration, and in-class projects.
In the Summer Journalism Institute, news-inspired students will develop basic journalistic techniques and approaches to produce journalism in a variety of formats.
Motivated students in the Political Communication Institute will explore topics and approaches suitable for public service, social advocacy, civic engagement, crisis management, public policy, politics, and communicating with media.

Note: July 30, 2016 is move-out day for Journalism Institute students who live on campus and August 6, 2016 is move-out day for Political Communication students who live on campus. July 16, 2016 is move-out day for Communication Disorders Institute students who live on campus. Our Pre-College Institutes are available at Emerson's Boston campus only.
