The Master of Arts in Journalism program is an intensive, two-year program that prepares students for journalism careers at the intersection of traditional and new media. Our curriculum is designed to help you develop storytelling skills that extend across newspaper, broadcast, and multimedia platforms. You will have ample opportunity for fieldwork through class assignments and internships in the Boston area. You will also have the opportunity to tailor your degree by taking elective courses that are geared toward a specific news beat such as cultural affairs, business, or political reporting.
Assistant Professor Tim Riley teaches a course on music journalism.
Journalism may be the first draft of history. But in today's 24/7, hypermedia world, news audiences expect that history to be written, blogged, recorded, and uploaded instantaneously. At Emerson, you learn to do just that.
