Lacerte Family Writing & Academic Resource Center

The Writing and Academic Resource Center (WARC) supports all members of the Emerson community by developing personalized strategies for academic success.

Our mission is to develop confident and independent writers and learners by providing resources for intellectual growth and academic support.

Through one-on-one meetings and conversations, our staff and consultants work with you to create pathways toward success on campus.

Appointments with WARC staff, Writing Center appointments with Writing Consultants, English Language Learning Consultants, Academic Success Consultants, and Peer Tutors are available to all students in person or virtually.

Our Services

Writing Support

The Writing Center at the WARC is a community of writers, for writers. Our consultants work with writers across disciplines.

Peer Tutoring

The WARC's Peer Tutoring program is an off-site service designed to provide undergraduate student peer-to-peer content tutoring in a fixed number of high-demand courses each semester.

International Student Support

The WARC welcomes undergraduate and graduate students who wish to improve their English writing and presentation skills in one-on-one consultations.

Academic Counseling

All Emerson students can make appointments with the WARC Directors to review their academic histories and determine what support may help them achieve and maintain academic success.

Study Strategies for Academic Success

The WARC provides support to improve your time management, writing, reading, and test preparation skills.

Resources for Faculty

The Writing Center frequently works with faculty to develop and implement writing in the disciplines, content, and workshops.

Visit the Center

Visiting the Center Professional staff members advise and coach students who seek specialized support. Content-specific peer tutors are also available by request. The Writing Center Coordinator assists in conversations about writing across disciplines. All services are free of charge.
