Jean Dunoyer has been making documentaries since the mid 80's when he studied under Richard Leacock at the MIT Media Lab. His editor credits include the Emmy Award winning "Kevorkian File" for PBS's Frontline and a dozen films for the PBS science series Nova. He has also edited programs for the History, Discovery, National Geographic, TLC, and A&E channels.
Jean Dunoyer seeks to push the limits of convention in editing style. In contemporary settings, he aims to achieve a presence felt through cinéma vérité sequences sparse in narration and paced in accordance with the desired emotional impact. With retrospective subject matter, his storytelling is intricately woven yet clear and sculpted.
He has more recently concentrated on children's television, blending documentary film techniques with scripted narrative in the PBS series Postcards from Buster, and Design Squad, the engineering reality game show for pre-teens while continuing to edit independent documentary features.
