Bookstore Events

The Bookstore can host events for a maximum of 60 attendees. Readings and Author Signings should be scheduled during regular store hours. The Bookstore will be responsible for setting up the provided space, ordering and displaying the books, staffing the event with booksellers to ring up purchases and manage customer lines and questions. In order to have your event take place in the Bookstore, the following guidelines should be met:

  • Contact the Bookstore at least 6 weeks prior to the date you would like your event to take place.
  • The event should be related to the college community, whether you are an Emerson alum, faculty member, or your publication is relevant to a field of study that Emerson offers.
  • Your reading should be sponsored by an Emerson department, meaning, the event will be publicized, organized, and promoted by this department. The department or publisher will provide and 11" x 14" poster for use in a Bookstore display advertising the event. The Bookstore will be given a particular contact person within the sponsoring department in order to meet and discuss logistics for the event.
  • The Bookstore can only order books if publisher returns are allowed. The Bookstore will order non-returnable books only if the author agrees to purchase unsold copies.

Please keep in mind that if you decide to have your event at another location on campus, the Bookstore is available to merchandise and sell books at various campus locations.
