From the Sound Stage at the historic Paramount Theater to the Tufte Television Studios and the Journalism Production Center, Emerson is rich in world-class production environments for Film, Video, Audio, and New Media.

Television Production Studios

The Television Production Studios feature classroom, production, and post-production facilities enabling students to acquire hands-on experience in end-to-end news and TV production. The Television Studios are located in the Tufte Performance and Production Center (PPC), 10 Boylston Place, 8th Floor. The Journalism Production Center (JPC) is located on the 6th floor of the Walker building, 120 Boylston Street.

Paramount Sound Stage

The Paramount Sound Stage is a full-service production facility for advanced student production. The stage features a full range of equipment and support gear essential to the creation of professional-level cinematic imagery. The Paramount Sound Stage is located in the Paramount Center, 555 Washington Street.

The Darkroom

The Darkroom has 12 workstations, each one is equipped with a Beseler MXT 4x5 enlarger, which accommodates negatives sized from 35mm to 4” x 5”. The Darkroom is located on the fifth floor of the Ansin Building, 180 Tremont Street.

Design and Integration

The department of Design and Integration has been a part of the MTP ecosystem since 2016. As a provider of support for renovation projects at Emerson, this area is crucial for the functionality and upkeep of facilities.
