Valerie Madden

Madden is a Designated Linklater Teacher, an actor, and a theatre educator. Madden has been teaching voice and text at Emerson College since 2017. In addition to teaching at Emerson College, she teaches voice and speech at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Previously, Madden taught at Shakespeare & Company, where she directed over a dozen shows for their education department. She has taught in the past with Actor's Shakespeare Project, CityStage, and the Merrimack Repertory Theater.

In 2016 Madden worked as a facilitator for Anna Deavere Smith's Notes from the Field: Doing Time In Education at the American Repertory Theater. During the show's run she engaged with audience members in conversations about race, privilege, inequality, and the school-to-prison pipeline.

Madden was designated as a Linklater Voice Teacher at the Linklater Voice Center in Orkney, Scotland in 2019. She earned her MFA in Theatre Education from Emerson College in 2020.
