Joan is a playwright and screenwriter who has written features for Warner Bros. Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, Columbia Pictures, and Sony Entertainment. She has also written an original screenplay, Fred, for award-winning Broadway choreographer/director Patricia Birch. As a playwright, Joan had a play produced Off-Broadway at the WPA Theater, Maids of Honor, which was published by Samuel French. Other plays have been workshopped at the Ensemble Studio Theater Los Angeles, where she was a member of the Playwrights Unit. Joan has also worked as a story analyst for Castle Rock Productions, and written art criticism for Artforum magazine. She is a member of the Writers Guild of America, East, and has a B.A. from Brown University and an M.F.A. in Playwrighting from the Yale School of Drama.
