    Department Title IX and ADA/Section 504 Coordinator

    Sonia Jurado is the Associate Vice President for Equity, Access and Equal Opportunity for Emerson College since May, 2022.  In that role, Sonia serves as the Title IX and ADA/504 Coordinator for the College.  Sonia has worked in higher education for over 10 years and has extensive experience conducting investigations as well as expertise in writing policies in the area of employment and civil rights laws, including Title IX, Title VII, Title IV, ADA, Rehabilitation Act Section 504 and other state and federal laws relating to discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence.  Sonia also has considerable experience in designing and delivering comprehensive training on these issues for faculty, staff, and students.  

    Prior to coming to Emerson, Sonia served as the inaugural Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, where she built a program to address issues of discrimination, harassment, and sexual violence for faculty, staff, and students.  Prior to her time at Brandeis, Sonia served in similar capacities and built similar programs at Wellesley College, Mount Ida College, and Tufts University.  Before moving into higher education, Sonia was a practicing employment attorney, working in-house and in private practice.  

    Sonia completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and received her law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law.  Sonia is originally from Chicago but has lived in the Boston area for over 10 years.

    Deputy Title IX Coordinator / Investigator

    Amy Condon is the Deputy Title IX Coordinator / Investigator for the Office of Equal Opportunity since July, 2022.  Amy has over 20 years of experience supervising and investigating discrimination and harassment matters.  Amy has been working with higher education institutions for the past five years managing and investigating discrimination, harassment and sexual violence matters.  Amy has also conducted countless trainings for faculty, staff and students related to these issues.

    Prior to joining Emerson, Amy was a Deputy Title IX Coordinator and OEO Investigator at Brandeis University.  Prior to her time at Brandeis, Amy was a practicing attorney, both in private practice and as the general counsel to the Boston Police Department, where her role included reviewing all internal administrative investigations, and overseeing employee disciplinary matters.

    Amy completed her undergraduate degree at Boston College and received her law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law.

  • Deputy Title IX Coordinator / Investigator

    Meghan Scasserra has served as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator / Investigator in the Office of Equal Opportunity since December of 2022. As a Deputy Title IX Coordinator / Investigator, Meghan’s responsibilities include managing and investigating matters of discrimination, harassment and sexual violence, and conducting trainings on these topics for Emerson’s faculty, staff and students.

    Prior to working at Emerson, Meghan was employed as an Assistant District Attorney at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office. Most recently, Meghan served as an ADA in the Child Protection Unit, where she was responsible for investigating, charging, and prosecuting perpetrators of child abuse. In that capacity, Meghan worked with child victims of physical and sexual abuse to help them hold their abusers accountable. Prior to joining the Child Protection Unit, Meghan managed cases in the Boston Municipal Court from arraignment to disposition, often collaborating with defense counsel to find creative resolutions. Before her time in the District Attorney’s office, Meghan worked as a legislative intern and civil litigation paralegal.

    Meghan is a graduate of Syracuse University and Syracuse University School of Law.

    Department Coordinator

    Lena Shapiro is the Department Coordinator for the Office of Equal Opportunity, having joined the office in March 2023. Lena assists with OEO’s case management, communications, training, data reporting, website and marketing materials.  Prior to joining OEO, Lena worked in the Massachusetts Senate, where she served as the Communications Director for State Senator Sonia Chang-Díaz. She also previously worked at Citizens for Juvenile Justice, an organization focused on juvenile justice and child welfare policy in Massachusetts. Lena is originally from Washington, D.C. and is a graduate of Wellesley College.
