Please go to the course evaluation system and use your Emerson credentials to sign in.

Who Do I Contact If I Have Questions About My Course Evaluations?

If you have any questions about your course evaluations, please contact Institutional Research at ir [at] emerson.edu (ir[at]emerson[dot]edu).

Is There An Online Resource For Course Evaluation Information?

Who Administers The Course Evaluations?

Course evaluation projects are set-up and administered by Institutional Research. If you have any questions about your course evaluations, please contact ir [at] emerson.edu (ir[at]emerson[dot]edu).

Who Do I Contact If I Have Questions Related To The Course Evaluation System, My User ID, Or My Password?

Who Sends Emails Related To My Course Evaluations In The Course Evaluation System?

Course evaluation announcements, reminders, and results notifications are sent by Emerson Evaluations (emerson_evaluations [at] emerson.edu (emerson_evaluations[at]emerson[dot]edu)). If you are looking for an email related to your course evaluations (e.g. start and end dates, current response rates, or sign in links), please search for Emerson Evaluations or emerson_evaluations [at] emerson.edu (emerson_evaluations[at]emerson[dot]edu).

Why Is One Of My Courses Not Listed In The Course Evaluation System?

To maintain students’ anonymity, course evaluations are not administered for courses with enrollments of less than 2. Students in Directed Studies also do not receive course evaluations.

If your course is not a directed study or has an enrollment of at least 2, your course might be included in a different course evaluation project. Courses are divided into separate projects based on campus (Boston, LA, KW) or type (Speech@Emerson, Emerson Prison Initiative, Co-Curricular, Professional Studies, Intersession, Global Pathways, Pre-College, etc.). You will receive separate emails for each project, as they may have different start and end dates.

Who Do I Contact If Students Contact Me About Responding To Course Evaluations Incorrectly?

If a student needs their course evaluation reset due to errors such as using an incorrect scale (e.g. indicating “Strongly disagree” when they meant “Strongly agree”), please contact Institutional Research at ir [at] emerson.edu (ir[at]emerson[dot]edu).

Who Do I Contact If I Am Incorrectly Listed As An Instructor For A Course Or If Faculty Are Incorrectly Listed As Co-Instructors Of My Course?

Course information in the course evaluation system is refreshed daily from Banner. If a course change was recently made, it may take up to 24 hours for the update to take place in the course evaluation system. If it has been more than 24 hours since a change was made in Banner and information is still incorrect in the course evaluation system, please contact Institutional Research at ir [at] emerson.edu (ir[at]emerson[dot]edu).

Who Do I Contact If Enrollment Information For My Course Is Incorrect?

Course information in the course evaluation system is refreshed daily from Banner. If a course change was recently made, it may take up to 24 hours for the update to take place in the course evaluation system. If it has been more than 24 hours since a change was made in Banner and information is still incorrect in the course evaluation system, please contact Institutional Research at ir [at] emerson.edu (ir[at]emerson[dot]edu).

Additionally, please check to see if your course is split into different sections. If any of these sections has an enrollment of 1, these students will not receive a course evaluation to maintain students’ anonymity.

Can I Provide Time In Class For Students To Complete Their Course Evaluations?

Absolutely! Faculty have the option of setting aside time in one of their final classes so that students can complete their course evaluations in class. Faculty should leave the classroom if their students are completing the evaluations in class. Faculty should encourage their students to complete their evaluations whether in or out of class.

Can I See Which Students Have Not Completed Course Evaluations Yet And Send Them An Email Reminder?

No. In order to maintain students’ anonymity, faculty are unable to identify which students responded to their course evaluations. As such, faculty are unable to send emails directly to these students. It is recommended that faculty remind all students in class to complete their course evaluations or send a reminder to the entire class. Students also receive reminder emails throughout the course evaluations timeframe.

Can I View My Course Evaluation Results While Course Evaluations Are Still Ongoing?

No. Course evaluation results are unavailable to faculty and administrators if course evaluations are still open to students. However, course evaluation results are usually available immediately after they close. Please check emails from Emerson Evaluations (emerson_evaluations [at] emerson.edu (emerson_evaluations[at]emerson[dot]edu)) to confirm your course evaluation end dates and when results are available.

How Can I Improve Response Rates For My Course Evaluations?

To encourage students to complete their course evaluations and to obtain a high (at least 90%) response rate, some approaches that can be applied include:

  • Remind students in class to complete their course evaluations.
  • Write the course’s current response rate on the board during every class.
  • Inform students in class about the purpose of the course evaluations and their importance. Perhaps give students examples of how evaluation results have improved the course they are in.
  • Include completing course evaluations with assignments to help remind students, and also remind them that faculty don't see the results until after the final grades are submitted.
  • On the last day of class, ask students to complete the evaluations on their laptops or phones while faculty step out of the classroom.

How Can I View My Course’s Current Response Rate?

Instructors will receive periodic emails throughout the course evaluation timeframe; these include a table showing your courses, their course evaluation start and end times, when the results reports will be available, and current response rates.

Additionally, you can view current response rates after signing into the course evaluation system. The Response Rate Tracker can be found on the right-hand side of the homepage. Click on the project name to view a list of all your courses within the project. The Response Rate Tracker will only display response rates for ongoing course evaluations, not course evaluations that have ended.

Can Students Change Their Course Evaluation Responses After They Receive Their Grades?

No. Students are granted access to their grades only if they complete all their course evaluations in a semester. Once a student submits a course evaluation, they are unable to access it again.

When Are Course Evaluation Results Available?

Results are available immediately after course evaluations close to students. Course evaluations typically close at 11:59 pm, and faculty and administrators will be able to access the results immediately at 12:00 am. However, depending on the term some course evaluations close at 12:00 pm; in these instances, results are still available at 12:00 am the next day. You will receive an email from Emerson Evaluations (emerson_evaluations [at] emerson.edu (emerson_evaluations[at]emerson[dot]edu)) notifying you when the report is available. This will include a link to your results.

Why Does My Course Evaluation Results Report Show An Incorrect Enrollment?

All course information in the course evaluation system is synched to Banner and refreshed daily. You will receive an email from Emerson Evaluations (emerson_evaluations [at] emerson.edu (emerson_evaluations[at]emerson[dot]edu)) before course evaluations begin. This includes a link to view your current courses and their enrollments. Please review your course information to confirm that your enrollments match your course and section numbers.

Additionally, if your course is split into different sections and any of these sections has an enrollment of 1, these students will not receive a course evaluation to maintain students’ anonymity.

When I Sign In To The Course Evaluation System, Why Am I Unable To See All The Course Evaluation Results Reports That I Have Access To?

If you have access as both an Instructor and Administrator (e.g. as a Department Chair or Dean), or if you previously responded to a survey in the course evaluation system, you may have to toggle between your access as an Instructor, Administrator, or Student/Respondent.

Please go to the upper-right hand side of your homepage (to the left of your name in the course evaluation system) and select your access type to view your relevant reports as an Instructor, Administrator, or Student/Respondent.

I’m Not Sure How To Access Or Interpret My Course Evaluation Results. Where Can I Find Instructions For Understanding My Course Evaluation Results Report?

Additionally, IR staff will be happy to walk you through your evaluation. Please contact Institutional Research at ir [at] emerson.edu (ir[at]emerson[dot]edu).

Why Am I Unable To View My Course Evaluation Results Report?
