Career Development is a lifelong resource for Emerson College Alumni. Whether you are a recent graduate preparing for a postgraduate job or a seasoned alum looking to energize your career, Emerson College’s Career Development Center is here to support you, no matter what.

Our main offer for alumni is the continued invitation to utilize 1-on-1 Career Counseling. Emerson alumni may use up to three (3) Alumni Appointments per calendar year to connect over in-depth topics and strategic career planning.

The Career Development Center also provides a variety of online resources to connect you with opportunities as well as career guidance. Continue reading for examples of what this support looks like for recent grads starting as Entry-Level Alumni as well as seasoned professionals who fit into more of a Mid-Level or Experienced Alumni category.

Entry-Level Alumni

Recent graduates entering the workforce are encouraged to connect with the Career Development Center as early as the first few months following their graduation.

Handshake for Jobs & Appointments (emerson.joinhandshake.com)

Handshake is the official career platform for Emerson College. Alumni can expect to find a variety of entry-level job opportunities submitted by employers who have been approved by the college. In addition to searching for jobs, alumni can also connect with our office via the platform to schedule 1-on-1 appointments with one of our career counselors.

Registering for Handshake

All current students are provided with a Emerson-associated Handshake account. Recent graduates may still have access to this account using their @emerson.edu email address. (Please note that access to your Emerson email will be lost one year after graduation, per Emerson IT’s policy. For information on requesting extended access to your email, click here.)

For graduates unable to access their Emerson email, we encourage you to register for a new account using the following steps:

  1. Visit Emerson College’s Handshake Registration Page.
  2. Provide a personal email address. (Please note that Handshake recommends using an active .edu address. You may disregard that message if you have lost access to your Emerson email address.)

  3. Enter a password for your account and complete registration.

Alumni accounts must be approved by the Career Development Center. Accounts are typically activated within 1–3 business days. Activated accounts will receive an email with instructions for logging in. Please email us at careers [at] emerson.edu with any questions or for technical support.

Jobs for Emerson College Alumni

Our office provides additional job-seeking resources outside of Handshake. These include area-specific email lists for Los Angeles and New York City-based job seekers in addition to the “Jobs for Emerson College Alumni” group on Facebook, where featured positions from Emerson-focused employers are shared on a consistent basis. Relevant links to join these resources are provided below.

Mid-Level or Experienced Alumni

Seasoned Alumni are entitled to any of the services and resources listed above. Additionally, we offer the following options for more seasoned professionals:

Handshake for Appointments (emerson.joinhandshake.com)

While the majority of opportunities posted to Handshake are entry-level focused, we recommend using the platform to connect with our office to schedule a 1-on-1 Alumni Appointment with one of our career counselors. You will need to register for a new account to connect with our office for this. Instructions for registering have been included below:

Activated accounts will receive an email with instructions for logging in

Industry Guides & Job Boards

We offer a variety of Industry-focused career guides for alumni wishing to connect with a career board that’s more specific than Handshake or external career sites such as Indeed and LinkedIn. We offer a variety of Industry-focused guides, such as:

Emerge
