Message from the Provost to Faculty Members

Updated March 24, 2020

Dear Faculty,

This is a difficult time for our campus and communities, one marked by widespread anxiety and rapid developments in relation to COVID-19.

In keeping with our emergency planning process and in consultation with the faculty leaders of assembly and the unions, as well as the faculty library and technology committee, we are planning for the possibility that we would need to move all our classes in Boston online.

Please review this guide prepared by ITG for tools available to move our classes online.

Finally, ITG and IT together will have open labs where staff will be available to walk you through different tools.  Times and locations will be forthcoming.

Zoom Pro is now available for every member of the Emerson Community; please see Emerson IT’s Zoom guide and read more on the Zoom support site, including Tips and Tricks for Teachers Educating with Zoom.

For questions about connecting to Zoom, please contact the IT Help Desk at 617-824-8080, helpdesk [at], or submit a request through the IT Help Desk.

Thank you for thinking ahead and helping us plan as conditions evolve.  The College and I will continue to be in communication about this and any potential decisions to move online.  Please email me or your dean if you have any questions.

Michaele Whelan, Provost
