Creative Writing (MFA)

No GRE required to apply

Learn from award-winning writers in one of the country’s longest-running programs of its kind. Emerson’s Creative Writing MFA allows you to specialize in one of three genres: literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. You’ll have the chance to explore other writing through electives like print, magazine writing, digital publishing, and more.

By the time you graduate you’ll have a portfolio of work ready for consideration by agents and publishing houses. Outside the classroom, engage in extracurriculars like writing or editing at Emerson’s two award-winning literary journals, or spend time mentoring and teaching writing to undergraduate students or members of the Boston community.
