Theatre Education & Applied Theatre (MA/MFA)

Set the stage for your career.

Explore a career in theatre education with Emerson’s Theatre Education & Applied Theatre Master’s and Master of Fine Arts. Expand your knowledge in theatre, the principles of teaching theatre, and the practices of applied drama.

Both the MA and MFA offer two tracks for you to choose from, Theatre Education and Applied Theatre. These tracks prepare you to teach the next generation of actors, run a local community theatre, or use theatre to promote community-based social justice.

You’ll have the opportunity to earn Massachusetts initial licensure as a theatre teacher for Pre-K through Grade 12 in public and private schools through the MA program and Pre-K through college level for the MFA program.

Located in the heart of Boston’s Theatre District, you’ll be inspired at every turn.
