
Bachelor of Arts in Writing, Literature and Publishing
The Department has the following goals, objectives and expected outcomes for its Bachelor of Arts program:
- Students will obtain and apply a knowledge of literary history and forms from a diversity of theoretical and cultural perspectives.
- Students will read, think, and write critically in the methodologies of literary inquiry.
- Students will acquire and implement skills in information literacy.
- Students will acquire creative writing skills with the goal of developing individual works in one or more of the literary genres.
Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in writing, literature and publishing must complete 40 credit hours as described. Students must take one 4-credit writing course at the 200-level, and two of the following courses:

In addition students must complete a total of 28 credit hours numbered 300 and above, in a combination of LI (literature), WR (writing) and PB (publishing) courses. The 28 credits must include 12 credits in one area (LI or a combination of WR and PB) and 16 credits in the other area (LI or a combination of WR and PB). No more than 4 credits of internship (PB499) may be used toward the 40 credits required for the BA degree.
