Libraries
The Emerson Library, in its new location at 120 Boylston St., can meet most of your research needs through its holdings of periodicals, newspapers, and books. Emerson is also a member of the Fenway Library Consortium, a cooperating group of 14 libraries in the Boston area. Libraries in the consortium are open to faculty, staff, and students. Through the Fenway Libraries Online, you can access a complete catalog of consortium holdings.
The Boston Public Library is located at 660 Boylston St., an easy walk from anywhere on the Emerson campus. Anyone living in Massachusetts can borrow from the BPL or its branches. With a BPL card, you'll have access to more than 6.1 million books, as well as 1.2 million rare books and manuscripts, maps, musical scores, and prints. You can search the online catalog for the Metro Boston Public Libraries.
Employment Resources
Emerson's Career Services Office, located at 216 Tremont St., offers a variety of programs to help you figure out what you want to do with your life and how to get there: from resume-writing workshops to practice interview sessions, from books full of job listings to alumni mentoring programs.
Career Services also runs Emerson's Internship program. An internship is a vital step to establishing a career in publishing, and Career Services' 1000 internship listings include Houghton Mifflin, The Boston Globe, and The Atlantic Monthly. If you're interested in a career in Hollywood, check out Emerson's Los Angeles Program.
