Equipment Distribution Center (EDC)
The Equipment Distribution Center (EDC) is located on the first floor of the Little Building, 80 Boylston St.
The EDC loans to faculty, staff, and students professional state of the art equipment and facilities, with which students fulfill class assignments. Normal operating hours are 9 AM - 10 PM Monday through Friday; 10 AM - 4 PM on Saturday. Some extended end of semester weekend hours will be available. Staff and students are available to assist with equipment problems clients may have.
Film Equipment Center
The Film Equipment Center has in inventory 16mm film cameras and edit equipment for all Film classes (Department of Visual & Media Arts), BFA and independent sections, and other extracurricular projects.
Inventory includes 16mm Bolex, Cinema Products, Arriflex and Aaton XTR cameras, with all peripheral support gear including DAT, new DVC RAM, Nagra, cassette, Flash memory, and Mini Disk audio recorders, lights, light meters, tripods, grip gear, etc.
Film students also have access to Steenbeck, MagnaSynch, Final Cut, Audio Pro Tools, and Avid editing systems.
The FEC also vends 35mm, 4X5 View cameras, and medium format still photo cameras to students enrolled in Photography classes, and supports the operation of the Photo/Dark Room Lab.
Video, Audio, New Media Equipment Center
The Video, Audio, New Media Equipment Center vends digital still, DVC Pro, Mini DV cameras, Audio recorders, studio and field microphones, lighting equipment and other support equipment to students in VMA and Journalism courses.
Inventory includes Panasonic DVC Pro, Mini DV, JVC and Sony PD150/170 and PDX10 cameras, Beyer, Sennheiser, and Audio Technica shotgun mics with boom poles, DAT, Mini disc, Flash memory, SD memory, and cassette audio recorders, and studio recording equipment for use in the 7th floor audio studios and suites.
Broadcast Journalism Equipment Center
The Broadcast Journalism Equipment Center supports the Journalism curriculum. Its inventory includes DVC Pro, Mini DV, and digital still cameras, tripods, audio cassette, Flash Memory, and mini disc recorders, microphones and lighting equipment.
