Digital Audio Production and Post Production Facilities

The Emerson College audio production and post production facilities are located on the 7th floor of the Ansin Building, 180 Tremont Street

Audio Production Classroom Studios

Room 704 is specialized for advanced film/video/new media post sound and includes:

Pro-Tools HD 192 system, advanced sound processing plug-ins, 5.1 mixing and monitoring, a Yamaha DM-1000 digital console, DVD Audio & SACD playback, video monitoring via Panasonic HD DLP projector and HD Plasma displays, a full array of multimedia applications, and MIDI music production software/hardware including Reason, Live, Digital Performer and Max/Jitter. This room is calibrated to meet THX/Pm3 standards, to mix at theater levels.

Room 705 is specialized for advanced studio multi-tracking/mixing 5.1, and includes:

Pro-Tools HD 192 system with 16 input capability, advanced outboard sound processors and plug-ins, patch bay, a Mackie Onyx 32x8 analog console, and MIDI music production hardware including a Kurzweil K2600. A spacious performance area is connected via audio snake to the control room. A Tascam DS-7.1 surround controller is the center of the 5.1 system, which includes Bass Management to control the Mackie HR-824s, HR-624’s and the HS-120 sub.

Room 706 is specialized for advanced vocal-based studio production and includes:

Pro-Tools HD system, advanced sound processing plug-ins, a new Mackie Onyx 32x8 analog console, MIDI-based music production software including Reason, Live and Max/Jitter. In addition, an isolation booth for vocals and voice-over is connected via snake to control room. The 5.1 system from the other classrooms are also employed here.

Note: Although specialized, the classroom studios are equipped for all facets of audio production and post-production with all rooms including DAT, CD, and Compact Cassette sources. In addition, all rooms have CD/DVD burners for Data, Audio, and Video storage/production.

  • A full compliment of sound processing plug-ins
  • Genelec 8030 studio monitors
  • DAT, CD, MiniDisc and Audio Compact Cassette sources
  • EV RE-27/ND microphones
  • Waves Platimun, Reason, Live, Compressor etc…
  • Seamless integration with Avid and Final Cut Pro via DV Tool Kit, with DigiTranslator

Four more Production Suites Include (in addition to the above suites):

  • 5.1 system with Tascam Surround Controller, 5 Genelecs 1029A and 7050 Sub, Neyrinck Surround Plug-ins
  • Suite 704A is an HD 192 Mastering 5.1 Production Suite with the same hardware and software set up that is in the two full classrooms.
