Journalism Production Center

The Journalism Production Center is located on the 6th floor of the Walker building, 120 Boylston Street.

The JPC features classroom, production, and post-production facilities enabling students to acquire hands-on experience in end-to-end news production. Journalism field equipment—including over two dozen professional HD JVC video cameras, over 80 Nikon DSLRs, and more than 100 iPod touch kits—is vended by the EDC. Deeply tied to the Journalism curriculum, the JPC provides equipment and training for students to develop the skills needed to report the news in a rapidly changing world.

The JPC Control Room and Studio have the following production systems and equipment:

  • Access to Isilon, Emerson’s high-speed network media storage system
  • 3 Panasonic AW-HE870 HD cameras
  • Access to a JVC 750 and Comrex Portable LiveShot unit, to practice live reporting and breaking news coverage

Post Production Editing Suites

Each room is outfitted with an iMac, with all the software applications found in the newsroom. All suites also include ElectroVoice microphones and headphones for recording voice tracks. Two of the edit suits are set up to be podcasting studios with two microphones, a Mackie audio board, and a Gentner phone hybrid system for phone interviews.
