Student Life

GREETINGS From the Dean of Students

October, 2009

Dear New Emersonian:

On behalf of the Student Affairs staff, allow me to congratulate you on your acceptance and welcome you to Emerson College.  The “New Student Orientation” team has been hard at work in anticipation of your arrival on campus.  Several activities and programs are being planned with faculty, staff and current students to facilitate your transition to Emerson and the city of Boston.

Upon entering a new academic environment it is quite common for students to encounter feelings of excitement, nervousness and uncertainty. Recognizing that a mid-academic year transition tends to pose some unique challenges, I particularly want to encourage you to join us for the full Orientation program. We believe that your participation and involvement in this experience will significantly ease your passage into the Emerson community.  In large part, the quality of your educational experience will be dependent on your taking advantage of the various learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.  So take a thoughtful look around and get ready to get involved!

I also wish to point out that your new community takes great pride in the diversity of its student body and the importance and worth of every individual.  In that regard, I invite your full participation to help us build a campus community that better understands, appreciates and celebrates our differences and our commonalities.  I hope you will join our ongoing efforts to foster an environment where civility and caring for one another are valued and affirmed.

Be sure to check the orientation web site for more details and periodic updates.  Please make special note of the following dates and times:
