Be an Orientation Leader

The application process to apply to be a member of the 2009-2010 Orientation Leader staff has concluded! The On line applications were due by 11:59pm on February 28, 2009! To apply to be an Orientation Leader for the 2010-2011 staff, please check back on this site in early February of 2010!

Apply to be a member of the 2010-2011 Orientation Leader staff. You will need your regular username and password. You MUST log in using Internet Explorer or Firefox to submit your application and bio.

Fall Orientation Leaders Duties and Responsibilities 2010-2011

  • Help orient a group of new students to Emerson College, the city of Boston, and the academic structure of Emerson.
  • Write individual and personalized letters to a group of Orientees over the summer.
  • Orientation Leaders should be energetic, committed, cooperative, self-motivated, unique, caring and must have a real concern for the well being of students.
  • Serve as a responsible and positive role model for students.
  • Responsibilities will require participation in training (May 6-7 and late August/early September 2010) and Orientation (August/September 2010). You will arrive back to campus for training in late August/early September. Actual arrival and training dates will be posted here shortly. Additionally, all Orientation Leaders are expected to participate in the annual Organization Fair, which will be held on the Friday of the first week of class.
  • All members of the Orientation Staff are expected to be in and remain in good academic and disciplinary standing. To be in good disciplinary standing means to be free of housing and/or disciplinary probation as notified by the College. If you are selected, these rules will apply for your tenure during the program as well, including the summer months spent on campus. This is extremely important. Please make sure that you are aware of any of these issues before you apply.
    A minimum of a 2.7 cumulative GPA is required to be an OL.

International Orientation Leaders Duties and Responsibilities 2010-2011

  • Help orient a group of new students to Emerson College, the city of Boston, and the academic structure of Emerson.
  • Assist the Director of International Student Affairs and Core Staff in designing, organizing and participating in all pre-orientation activities and programs.
  • Be available for and assist in early arrival cultural adjustment issues of new international students.
  • Orientation Leaders should be energetic, committed, cooperative, self-motivated, unique, caring and must have a real concern for the well being of students.
  • Serve as a responsible role model for students.
  • Responsibilities will require participation in training (May 6-7 and late August/early September 2010) and Orientation (August/September 2010).
