Hand Me Down Night: History

Hand Me Down Night is an annual semi-formal event which the entire college community is welcome and invited to attend. The term “Hand Me Down Night” is derived from the fact that the program involves the “handing down” of offices within SGA recognized clubs and organizations from one year’s leadership to the next.  An additional 6 Specialized Awards have historically been given out to recognize individual accomplishments of College faculty, staff and student leaders. The annual recipients of The Isabel Sanford Scholarship and the Hand Me Down Night Award of Distinction are also announced during the event.

Archival records note Emerson College Hand Me Down Night ceremonies dating back some 40 years or so. Traditionally Hand Me Down Night has included an awards ceremony, refreshments, music and dancing.
