Hand Me Down Night is an annual, semi-formal event which recognizes leadership among our student organizations and the accomplishments of Emerson College community members, inclusive of individual students, faculty, staff and administrators.
Who is welcome at Hand Me Down Night?
EVERYONE is invited and encouraged to attend! All Emersonians - students, faculty, staff, and administrators are welcome to participate in Hand Me Down Night, regardless of their affiliation with student clubs and organizations.
Why is this event called Hand Me Down Night?
The name “Hand Me Down Night” is derived from the symbolic ‘handing down’ of leadership positions from outgoing officers of undergraduate student clubs and organizations to the new, incoming officers.

Hand Me Down Night has been an annual tradition of Emerson College for more than 40 years.
What happens at Hand Me Down Night?
The semi-formal evening consists of a reception, a Student Showcase, a formal sit-down dinner, dessert, an awards presentation, all of which are followed by dancing with music provided by a student disc jockey.
