If you are moving to the Boston area as an international student attending Emerson College, the OCSS staff recommend taking some time to review these pages before searching for an apartment in the Boston area.
In these pages, you'll find steps to take to begin your apartment search, what to consider when renting an apartment, tips on working with a realtor, what you need to know before signing a lease, and a vocabulary list to familiarize you with terms you will encounter during your apartment search.
OCSS is not a real estate agency, nor does it place students in apartments. It is a campus resource to help students and point them in the right direction to secure an off-campus apartment. Most leases begin on September 1 and end August 31 the following year.
CONNECT-Ed
Emerson utilizes a state-of-the-art Emergency Notification System called CONNECT-Ed to communicate with students, faculty, and staff in the event of an emergency on the Boston campus. The system simultaneously transmits messages by telephone, email, and SMS (text messaging).
