Off-Campus Student Services
Summer Apartment Workshops
At Emerson College, we are fortunate to share all that the city of Boston has to offer with our neighboring educational institutions. A booming student population allows our city to maintain a vibrant sense of diversity. The constant influx of student residents can, however, work to complicate your search for an apartment and/or roommate. The Office of Off-Campus Student Services has planned a series of day-long workshops to assist you with the challenges of securing housing in and around the Greater Boston area. We hope that you will join us during one of the three dates offered.
Workshops will run from 10:00 am–2:00 pm in the Bill Bordy Theatre, located at 216 Tremont Street, on the following dates:
- Friday, June 12, 2015
- Friday, June 26, 2015
- Friday, July 10, 2015
Sessions will include opportunities to meet with other students looking for an apartment and/or roommates. The information and materials presented at each of the three sessions will be identical. Graduate and undergraduate students are welcome to register for any one of the three dates offered.
A light lunch will be provided. Local rental agencies have set aside office time for workshop attendees, and will be prepared to meet with you and show available rental units when the workshop concludes at 2:00 pm.
Workshop sessions will review your rights and responsibilities as a tenant, and will review the paperwork relevant to leasing. Time will be offered for you to ask questions of current Emerson off-campus students. We will also be certain to familiarize you with Boston, its many neighborhoods and system of public transit. At the close of your session, you will be encouraged to further utilize the services available through Off-Campus Student Services.
Looking for a roommate(s)?
For those looking for a roommate(s), complete the Roommate Matching form. Our staff will review your responses and upon check-in at the workshop, you will receive a list of other respondents who match your profile. It will be your challenge throughout the day, to seek out these individuals and pursue potential matches. If you cannot attend a workshop, you can complete the form and the information will then be posted for viewing by our in-office visitors.
