Summary
The post-graduation survey was distributed to 350 graduate degree recipients.

  • 20.0% (70) responded to the survey
  • Out of those 20.0% (70) who responded to the survey, 78.6% (55) of respondents indicated having post-graduation plans

Breakdown of Post-Graduation Plans:

  • 94.5%  (52) of the 55 respondents with post-graduation plans found employment
  • 5.5% (3) of the 55 respondents with post-graduation plans reported participating in a post-graduation internship or fellowship

Employment Related to Major

  • 84.6% (44) of the 52 respondents who found employment stated that their job is related to their major
  • 15.4% (8) of the 52 respondents who found employment stated that their job was not related to their major
    • 50.0% (26) of the 52 respondents who are employed indicated participating in an internship while at Emerson College

Primary Resource Used to Find a Job (based on 52 employed respondents):

  • 30.8% (16) Networked through family & friends’ industry connections
  • 19.3% (10) Applied through a job posting online, directly to a company without a job lead
  • 15.4% (8) Continuing with my current employment – graduate student who worked throughout course of studies
  • 15.4% (8) Applied through a job posting online, using other sites (idealist, monster, craigslist, etc.)
  • 5.8%  (3)  Found job through a recruiter
  • 3.8% (2) Networked through Emerson industry connections (alumni/faculty/academic department/industry professionals)
  • 3.8% (2)  Self-employed: Began a start-up/business on my own or with colleagues
  • 1.9% (1) Returned to a previous internship (through Emerson) site as an employee
