Emerson College

The Center for Spiritual Life

The Emerson College Center for Spiritual Life (often known as the CSL) is a small set of offices located on the second floor of the Walker Building (120 Boylston) in Suite 205 that seeks to support and foster growth in the Emerson community ethically, morally, and spiritually.  The roles of the Center include:

  1. Emphasizing and advancing the role of spirituality within the context of higher education and student/communal life at the College.
  2. Ministering to the needs and interests of Emersonians.
  3. Fostering a sense of community on campus.
  4. Advocating for the needs of under-represented groups.
  5. Providing a voice of conscience within the community.

The Center for Spiritual Life is an interfaith community, which supports the various faith-based communities and student groups on campus, fosters interdenominational and interfaith discussion and collaboration, and seeks to support students of all faiths and creeds, including atheists, agnostics, and others of secular and humanistic orientations.

The Center for Spiritual Life seeks to promote discussion and exploration by people of all faiths, and to foster an ongoing dialogue regarding religion, spirituality, and ethics.  Please keep an eye out for Center for Spiritual Life interfaith event postings around campus!

The Center is home to three long-running student groups each advised by one of our three chaplains or campus ministers:  the Jewish student group Hillel, the Catholic student group the Newman Club, and an interdenominational Christian group the Emerson Good News Fellowship (known simply as EGNF).  Our student groups, like our Center, are open to all regardless of current or past religious affiliation and we welcome explorers, seekers, etc.

For more information about these student groups, please view our Student Organizations.  For more information or to contact our Center or one of our staff members directly, please contact us.
