Sandy Cohn Thau
Sandy Cohn Thau is a clinical instructor, teacher, and consultant in speech-language disorders. As director of clinical education, she tracks the progress of graduate students through the clinical program, assigns clinical placements, and maintains clinical records for the department. Through her teaching, Thau focuses on the role of the speech-language practitioner in school settings and helps prepare students for the transition from graduate school to the workplace. She also supervises graduate student clinicians in Emerson's Robbins Speech, Language and Hearing Center.
Thau has had several poster presentations at annual American Speech-Language-Hearing Association conventions on supervision, covering topics such as prevention and supervisory attitudes and practices. She has been an invited speaker on the topic of supervision at community agencies. Formerly, Thau was coordinator of student training and rehabilitation coordinator at Kennedy Memorial Hospital (now Franciscan Children's Hospital) in Boston. She is actively involved in the Northeast Council of Clinic Directors in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
