Reporting Incidents

The college police needs your help to prevent crime. All community members are reminded to report ANY suspicious activity or criminal acts to the College Police. If you see someone or something that appears suspicious or out of the ordinary, Report It Immediately 617.824.8888.

• On-campus, call Public Safety x8888
• Off-campus, use the emergency number of the city or town. (Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, etc.) 911
• When you call the Emerson College Police to report a crime, please Remain calm and speak clearly. Stay on the phone until the Police dispatcher has all the information we need.

The Police dispatcher will prompt you for important information such as:

• Your exact location
• What is happening (I.e. robbery, medical emergency, fire, suspicious person)
• Your name and call back number (We need this information in the event additional information is needed.Your identity will remain confidential.)
• Whenever possible, a detailed description of the person(s), vehicle(s), or property involved would be very helpful.

This includes:

Person

• Sex
• Color
• Age
• Height and weight
• Clothing (color and style)
• Weapons (type)
• Method and direction of escape.

Vehicles

• Make and model of vehicle
• License plate number
• Color of vehicle
• Condition or outstanding characteristics
• Direction of travel

Property

• Type
• Model number and style
• Serial or other identifying number(s)
• Any additional identifying information
