Project Updates
The Student module is being launched in several stages. Admission has gone live and is already entering applicants into the system. The Registrar's office has successfully conducted their first mock registration. Students will be using the system to register for Fall classes. Look for an e-mail newsletter from the Registrar's office for more details soon.
Human Resources and Institutional Advancement have also commenced training and are working hard toward their go-live dates. For more detailed training information, please visit the Calendar page.
The Banner Finance module has been launched! Their go-live date was July 1, 2008. All purchase requisitions and budget look-up for Fiscal Year 2009 are now performed in the Banner system.
If you would like to request access for a new user, or would like to change current access, you may fill out the Banner Finance Access Request Form.
Welcome
Welcome to the Emerson College Project Evolution website. Evolution is the name given to the College’s multi-year project to replace its core administrative systems, including Waldo, with a “unified digital campus” (UDC) solution from SunGard Higher Education (SGHE), Inc., the core of which is a product commonly known as Banner.
George Bernard Shaw once wrote,
"The only man I know who behaves sensibly is my tailor; he takes my measurements anew each time he sees me. The rest go on with their old measurements and expect me to fit them."
Project Evolution is our opportunity to “take (our) measurements anew” with respect to the way we conduct the business of Emerson College. The College is not the same as it was when we adopted most of our current business processes over the past two decades. We need a change and, using Shaw’s metaphor, Banner will be our “new suit”. Project Evolution will be the “tailor”. During 2008 and 2009, the UDC will be implemented into the everyday processes of the College. We need to work together to make sure that our “new suit” meets our current and expected needs.
We would love to hear any questions or feedback you have! Please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page. Any comments or questions that are not answered on the site can be sent to project_evolution@emerson.edu.
About Project Evolution
The mission of this project is to adopt an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for Emerson College. ERP is a term used to describe a single solution to administrative computing needs which, in a higher education implementation, encompasses all areas of finance, enrollment, human resources and advancement. Emerson College will continue to use Powerfaids to service our Financial Aid needs.
The SunGard Higher Education suite of administrative software has been purchased to serve as the foundation for Emerson’s ERP solution, replacing the current mixture of legacy systems. Banner will offer the college solutions that will enhance services to the college community, provide users with the necessary information for timely and informed decision making and enable increased self-service. The new ERP system will enable us to improve the overall experience of our students, staff and faculty.
