ECNET Account Deactivation Policy

The ECnet accounts and Pages folders of former students are maintained on Emerson's servers for a minimum period of one year after the last semester in which those students were registered. After that point, accounts are subject to deletion; all ECmail and Pages folders of former students are permanently removed and it is not possible to recover deleted email or Pages documents. Students who fall into this category are notified by email several times to allow them to prepare for this change.

If you have been notified that your ECnet account will be deleted, and you are still enrolled at Emerson or know of any other reason why your ECnet account and Pages folder should not be deleted, contact the IT Help Desk immediately by emailing helpdesk@emerson.edu.

Forward for Life

The Office of Alumni Relations offers a solution for email address changes that makes it easy to keep in touch no matter what your email address is. It's called "Forward for Life," and here's how it works:

  • Send an email with "Forward for Life" in the subject line to alumni@emerson.edu.
  • Include your name, graduation year, and the personal email address you would like to have your email forwarded to, such as your new home or business email address. You cannot set up a forward from your regular ECmail account, as that account will be eliminated.
  • After your application has been processed, a pointer will be created for you with a username in the form of firstname_lastname@alumni.emerson.edu.

If you have a change of email address in the future, just let the Office of Alumni Relations know where you want your pointer moved, and your forwarder will be set automatically to your new email address. Forward for Life is a mail forwarder only; you must have a current non-Emerson email address in order to receive email. If you have questions about Forward for Life, email the Office of Alumni Relations at alumni@emerson.edu.
