Richard Gilman is an actor and director living in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. His local acting roles include parts in Desire Under the Elms at The American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Accidental Death of an Anarchist at the Poets' Theater in Somerville, and Born Yesterday and The Suicide at Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, where he also attended the conservatory. Gilman's directing work in the Boston area includes productions of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and She Stoops to Conquer for Emerson Stage and A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Ipswich Middle School.
Gilman has also lived and worked in San Diego, where he appeared in productions of Hello and Goodbye and The Caine Mutiny Court Martial, along with the comedies Father's Day and No Sex, Please, We're British. During the 1970s, Gilman was head of the acting program and artistic director of The Highland Players for the Community Free School in Boulder, Colorado. Gilman continues to enjoy teaching, acting, and improvisation.
