Special Events
![]() | Orientation Orientation is the time set aside in September and January to acclimate new students to Emerson and the City of Boston. Activities and administrative functions are planned to assist students through advising, financial issues, registration, move in and many other transitional areas. Orientation also is a time for new students to meet each other. All students are expected to actively participate in each component of the program. |
![]() | Family Weekend The Office of Student Activities works closely with a student committee to plan and implement the College’s annual Family Weekend. Participation in Family Weekend allows students and their families the opportunity to explore Emerson’s dynamic campus along with the College’s many programs and services. |
![]() | Commencement Amid pomp and ceremony, Emerson College conferred more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate degrees at its 128th annual commencement exercises on May 19th. The Commencement address was given by Emerson College alumnus and Trustee Doug Herzog, who helped launch MTV and is currently the President of MTV Networks Entertainment . |
![]() | Class of 2012 Summer Send-off Parties New Student Receptions are held in late summer for all Emerson incoming freshmen in a specific geographic area to meet each other prior to the start of school. The receptions provide a chance for Emerson parents to socialize before their children enroll at Emerson, and give incoming students a chance to talk with current Emerson students about life on campus and in Boston. Local alumni representatives are also invited to these receptions. These receptions are held in the homes of Emerson alumni and/or parents who volunteer to act as hosts. |
