Library Access Policy
The Iwasaki Library supports the learning, teaching, research, and creative work of Emerson students, faculty, and staff. The Library is open to anyone with a valid Emerson ID, anyone with an ID from a Fenway Library Consortium (FLC) institution, and Emerson alumni.
Due to limited space and resources, the Library does not allow general access for non-affiliated users. If you have a research need that requires the use of our collections and you are not affiliated with an FLC institution, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 617-824-8674 for information about access. We request that you make arrangements with us in advance, so that we can notify Campus Security. Visitors may be asked to show identification and sign in if requested by a security guard.
Please note that you can also contact your local library to request our materials through interlibrary loan.
Only current Emerson students, staff and faculty, FLO and FLC member library patrons, and alumni with a borrowing card can check materials out.
Accessing Library Materials from Off-Campus Locations (Proxy)
Members of the Emerson College community can access web-based Library resources from home or other computers by using the Library's proxy server, if they have a valid Emerson College ECnet account and Internet access. (Visit the Information Technology Help Desk at 120 Boylston Street to obtain an Emerson College ECnet account. Remember to bring your Emerson ID card.) Contact the Help Desk for more information at 617-824-8080.
After selecting a web-based resource such as Academic Search Premier or Lexis Nexis Academic Universe from the list by title, enter your ECnet username and password before continuing on to the resource. This is the same username and password used for your Emerson email account. Do not add @emerson.edu after your username.
If you have a link to an article or citation from one of these resources and wish to access it off campus, prefix the link with: http://proxy.emerson.edu/login?url=
For example, if you have this link: http://www.domain.com/direct.asp?an=123456789&db=aph
Use the following to gain access to it when you are off campus: http://proxy.emerson.edu/login?url=http://www.domain.com/direct.asp?an=1...
For assistance with your ECnet account, contact the IT Help Desk at 617-824-8080.
Due to content and licensing restrictions, remote access to Library databases is available only to currently enrolled Emerson students, faculty, and staff.
