Join the host of WBUR’s On Point Tom Ashbrook and former ABC News anchor and Journalism faculty member Carole Simpson as they moderate a post-election discussion at the Cutler Majestic Theatre.
Presented in partnership with MassINC/CommonWealth magazine and WBUR,the 90-minute discussion titled “Behind the Curtain: What Just Happened? What's Next?” will explore the outcomes of the national and state-wide elections and the implications they have on politics and policy, both here and in Washington.
The evening’s discussion will consist of two segments:
Simpson will moderate "What Just Happened?"—A look at the outcomes and influencers in the big races two days after the wins and losses, and a look ahead at what might happen politically as a result. Joining Simpson will be Boston Globe columnist Brian McGory; MassINC pollster Steve Koczela; Former Governor of Massachusetts, Member at Mintz Levin and Principal at ML Strategies William F. Weld; and Jim Braude of NECN and NewsTalk 96.9 FM.
Ashbrook will moderate "What's Next?"—An examination of the policy implications of both the state and national elections: from the fiscal cliff and Obamacare to the Supreme Court. Panelists for this discussion will be Elaine Kamarck, visiting lecturer at Harvard Kennedy School and former policy director for Bill Clinton; Nina Easton, Washington correspondent for Fortune Magazine and regular Fox News Sunday panelist; and Nicholas Burns, retired American diplomat and current Professor of the Practice of Diplomacy and International Politics at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
The program is free, but general admission seating tickets are required. For free ticket information, visit cutlermajestic.org or call 617-824-8000.
