    3/29/13
    6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
    Paramount Center
    Bright Family Screening Room

ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents La Nana. This award-winning dramedy twists and turns with emotion through one maid's journey of rediscovering herself. As the head maid in a Chilean household for over 20 years, she has integrated into the Valdes family, but her loyalty has driven her to dizzy spells due to overexposure of chlorine. Her position is threatened when her boss hires younger maids to assist her, and she schemes to drive away her competition. Poignant and funny, sad and heartfelt, this film examines the nature of subservience and the difference between employment and family.

  • Joven y Alocada

    3/29/13
    9:00 pm - 10:30 pm
    Paramount Center
    Bright Family Screening Room

ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents Joven y Alocada. In an unabashedly honest film about adolescence, 17 year-old Chilean Daniela struggles with an internal conflict between her strict Evangelical upbringing and her natural tendency towards rebellion. While she fumbles through defining her sexuality and battling expulsion right before college, her parents send her to work at an Evangelical TV network where she starts to fall in love with both devout Tomas and adventurous Antonia; having to choose will be the biggest obstacle of them all. Funny yet containing a powerful message, Joven y Alocada looks at what it means to be young and wild.
