Bright Family Screening Room
A curated program of music videos from the 2012 LA Music Video Festival
The Los Angeles Music Video Festival (LAMVF) exists to celebrate the art of the music video and to bring together the independent music and independent film communities of Los Angeles and beyond. We hope to encourage and promote the development of independent music video producers and their audience.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Music videos are powerful creative units that serve many purposes. They are marketing tools for bands, promotional reels for filmmakers, storytelling experiments…they are perhaps the most flexible, visceral and accessible film format, purely focused on the combination of sound and image. And yet, music videos have all but disappeared from television, even as the number of music videos being produced has burgeoned. Youtube, Vimeo and MySpace may "house" videos, but there is less and less opportunity for videos to be showcased and celebrated. A precious few receive the attention they deserve. The Los Angeles Music Video Festival has one purpose: to celebrate the art of the music video. While many film festivals have music video categories, they tend to be presented as secondary, somehow less important or deserving of our consideration than other genres. There are precious few festivals in the world that focus exclusively on music videos, the people who make them and the people who love them. LAMVF not only provides that opportunity, but further brings together the independent music and independent film communities of Los Angeles in a celebration of local musical talent and creativity like never before.

Well, each student will get a set of headphones which comes with two stations that you can switch between. One station may have Call me Maybe, while the other has Ice Ice Baby, whatever your preference, you have the control. The best part: you hear nothing but music. It's just like dancing in your room alone. And when you need a break take them off and listen to your friends singing. No matter what, this event can't be missed. All you need is yourself and your dancing shoes.
